November 28, 1997 - Rodigan and Jaro meet in Long Island
... and what a road block dance. People came out in the numbers to support their sound as
Rodigan and Ricky Trooper of Killamanjaro squared off at the Jam Rock Night Club and
despite the tight fit,
everyone
seemed to in a good mood yet anxious to get the clash on. Even in the early juggling you
could tell that this would be a clash for the books as both sounds drew plates that had
the dance forwarding each cut.
It seemed Rodigan was pulling away as time went on, as he played dubs specially made for the clash, backing up the big chat he made of climbing the mountainous Jaro. Another reason that Rodigan seemed to be leading was the annoyance the crowd had to a Jaro backer - Supercat. Cat, not one to tek bak im talk dissed the crowd, this was causing the crowd to back Rodigan.
In the one for one dub session, Rodigan again jumped out in the early lead playing the crowd's dubs. But it wasn't long before Trooper stormed back, knocking Rodigan down one dub at a time. This is where Trooper is at his merciless best, taking the momentum and driving his challenger to lock off. Only this time the chat backfired ... the people out to enjoy good clashing vibes wouldn't put up with it, as he seemed to cross the color line. Nuff people respected Rodigan for who he is and what he has done, so they wouldn't tolerate Trooper for dissing him.
If you can get a cassette of this do it! You judge. People are still arguing here in New York.
