Founded in 1990 by veteran DJ I-Roy, in the parish of St. Catherine, Turbo Crown was one of the first Jamaican based sound systems to have actually toured the US. It wasn't too long before recognition as a top ranking sound came their way as Turbo Crown was nominated in 1990 for the Top Sound System award by Rockers ( a local award event). Since then, Turbo Crown has gone on a US tour several times, playing at venues in New York, Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut and Washington DC. Today, Turbo Crown is still displaying the skills necessary to compete in the dancehall alongside sounds as Stone Love, Black Scorpio, Jam Rock, MetroMedia, Body Guard and Super Saint. The crew of Turbo Crown include noted 'soundsmen' Bobby Forsyth, Johnny Handsome, and Special D. Look for them in your area soon.
